What are the key fashion trends for Fall-Winter 2022-2023? Vogue breaks down the 15 looks that will define the next season in 15 moods.

Which fashion trends will we be wearing this Fall-Winter 2022-2023? And how? Vogue reflects on 15 key trends spotted at the FW 22/23 show, which took place in February and March. Take note!

After many shows presented both physically and digitally in recent seasons, fashion returned to its first love with grandiose shows from New York to London through Milan and Paris. Faced with the ongoing health crisis, the creative sphere continued to invoke imagination and creativity while initiating a true return to the fundamentals of style. Reminiscent of carefree years, the Y2K aesthetic made a bold entrance, rubbing shoulders with the elegance of the Roaring Twenties and the energy of punk counterculture and biker accents. The wardrobes were less outrageous, making the white tank top a hit, all while clashing styles like the hyper-femininity of evening dresses meeting the strength of a structured corset. In terms of color, a joyful and hopeful chromatic palette with an emphasis on purple and flaming red were noted.

    Transparent evening dresses

The black dress played with transparency and was worn over visible underwear or ultra-chic pants. The result? A new definition of the evening look which falls somewhere between elegance and delicate sexiness.

    Schoolgirl

Say goodbye to streetwear and hello to the fundamentals of fashion. After the preppy 1970s takeover a few seasons ago, the schoolgirl wardrobe is now making a comeback. The schoolgirl 2.0 raised the white shirt, the tie, the skirt, the blazer and the trousers to the rank of fashion essentials of the season.

    Faux Fur

With more and more houses giving up animal fur in favor of more responsible variations, they are competing to create the perfect fake fur. Look out for enveloping volumes and a natural color palette.

    Back to the 2000s

With ultra-low waistlines, nano skirts, total denim looks and trompe-l'oeil visible lingerie, we are well and truly back in the 2000s. Fashionable brands and labels are reviving the golden age of this fashion decade and breathing new life into the Y2K aesthetic.

In line with the punk trend, we saw patchwork-style tartan, sharp lines, and metal buckles. Although edgy, these variations were never too dark.
