I don't know if I can assume that the reviews for the V2 500W version applies to the V3. I suspect that if I had pushed it close to its rated maximum output it might have released the magic smoke. Nostalgia isn't what it used to be. Since switching to SeaSonic instead of Corsair, Thermaltake and Antec PSUs, I haven't needed to replace any failed ones, either. The EVGA low-end models are unremarkable but reasonably done on the less expensive end. However, if it's my own system, Seasonic or the Superflower-made EVGA SuperNova gold/platinum models are the only options. I've had my Seasonic Platinum for five years now, and it displaced a Seasonic Gold I handed down to my wife's system; that one is probably eight years old. Both have been rock solid.
