Giáo sư Anita Padmanabhanunni là Phó Giáo sư và Trưởng Khoa Tâm lý học tại Đại học Western Cape (UWC). Cô ấy là Nhà tâm lý học Tư vấn đã đăng ký (HPCSA) và đã hoàn thành bằng Tiến sĩ tại Đại học Rhodes.

Dr Adonis is a senior lecturer in the Department of Psychology at the University of the Western Cape. She holds the position of third year level coordinator and teaches at both Undergraduate and Postgraduate level. Previously she worked as the researcher in the Community Engagement Unit, a unit in the office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic) for 15 years. She has extensive experience in partnership projects at the University of Western Cape as she was the community-based education coordinator in the Western Cape Community Partnership Project (WCCPP) and as the academic coordinator in the Community Higher Education Services Partnership (CHESP) Project. An alumnus from UWC, with a D Phil in Science Education (graduated 2018), she explored the value of partnerships in facilitating effective school learning environments which contributes to community development and community well-being. Her PhD also facilitated her current research interest in educator well-being within challenging school contexts; an area that requires attention amidst the current COVID-19 pandemic. Additional research interests include women’s health and quality of life, and curriculum development that facilitates opportunities for students to learn within the community.

Mr. Rashid Ahmed is a registered Clinical Psychologist and Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of the Western Cape. Mr. Ahmed has completed a PhD, a Master’s degree (Clinical Psychology), as well as a Higher Diploma in Education (Post Graduate). His research interests are in the areas of, Health Disparities; Education Inequities; Health Promotion; Violence Prevention and Community Based Participatory Research. Mr Ahmed's present focuses include, Violence Prevention and Community Resilience with an emphasis on the Community level Risk and Protective factors for Homicide and how these could be utilised for violence prevention.

Prof Andipatin currently serves as the Deputy Dean (Research) in the Faculty of Community and Health Sciences at the University of the Western Cape. She is one of the founding members and currently the co-ordinator of the Masters Research programme. Prof Andipatin has extensive supervision experience at postgraduate level. Her areas of interest and expertise are as follows: Women's health, reproductive health, gender-based violence, mother/ mothering/ motherhood, alternative health paradigms, feminisms, masculinities. She is an NRF grantholder and the area of funding focuses on high-risk pregnancy. Prof Andipatin is also the champion of the emerging niche called the Centre for Diversity in Psychological Practice (CDPP). This niche area spans three Psychology departments, namely, Psychology, Industrial Psychology and educational Psychology. The aim of the niche is to focus on issues of diversity/inclusion as it relates to psychological interventions.

Ms Fennie is a Lecturer in the Department of Psychology at the University of the Western Cape (UWC). She holds an MPhil degree in HIV/AIDS Management from Stellenbosch University, a BA Hons (Psych) from UWC, a Primary Diploma in Education from the Western Cape College of Education (also a currently registered Educator), and is a current PhD candidate in Educational Psychology at UWC. While working on her PhD, she was awarded the University of Michigan African Presidential Scholarship in the 2017/2018 cohort. Her PhD was funded through an NRF Thuthuka Grant (i.e. PhD track) in 2018, and a University Capacity Development Grant (UCDG) in 2020. Her broad research interests are adolescent sexual- and reproductive health, HIV/AIDS, Women’s- and Higher Education, as well as Educational Psychology. She teaches on both Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels, as well as supervises Honours and Master's students.

Mr. Brendon Faroa is a Lecturer in the Department of Psychology at the University of the Western Cape. Mr. Faroa holds a Honours degree in English Literature as well as an Honours and Masters in Psychology. In 2009, Mr. Faroa was nominated by the English Department to be part of the Global Consortium Honours Programme in the Centre for Humanities Research at UWC. This project was linked to the Robben Island Museum and the Mayibuye Centre. The project focused on the meaning of 1989 for South Africa and the world. The research done with students from University of Minnesota and UWC formed a basis of an exhibition at the Robben Island Museum. Mr. Faroa has worked in Student Development and Support Services (SDS), also Interning at UWC's Centre for Student Support Services' (CSSS) Academic Support Unit as a Senior Student Coordinator and Programme Coordinator. In 2009, Mr. Faroa was also the recipient of the Student Development and Support Awards for Achiever of the Year and the Award for Leadership and Social Responsibilities for his roles in the Emerging and Advanced Leadership programmes in SDS. Mr. Faroa has accumulated invaluable experience in project management, student development, support and academic support, including mentoring of undergraduate students. He joined the Department of Psychology in 2012. Since then, Mr Faroa has etched out his presence as an emerging scholar. To this end, his Masters research focused on the developmental trajectories of antisocial offending behaviours discernable through self-explanations. His teaching at first and senior undergraduate levels includes modules in developmental and health psychology. Mr. Faroa has authored and co-authored peer reviewed articles in accredited journals, presented at various conferences and symposia. He also regularly engages in research and projects geared toward the scholarship of learning and teaching while his community engagement endeavours include activities and projects in the UWC community as well as communities outside of the university. Mr. Faroa is currently enrolled for his PhD at Institute for Social and Health Sciences, University of South Africa (UNISA) which is based at the South African Medical Research Council’s Violence, Injury and Peace Research Unit (SAMRC-VIPRU).

Prof. Florence is a Research Psychologist employed as an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of the Western Cape. She conducts research in the areas of measurement design and instrument validation, addictions and quality of life and women’s, children’s and youth well-being at a national and international level. Prof. Florence co-ordinates the Masters in Research Psychology programme for which she teaches across several of the modules including Quantitative Research Methods and Measurement Design. Her approach to research is closely aligned to that of her learning and teaching approach as they are both aimed at addressing the social justice agenda. Her contribution to various communities through her research and intervention endeavours are driven by her attempts to address the ills in society with regard to substance use and quality of life.

Wilmien Human qualified as a Clinical Psychologist in 2008 after completing her internship at Sterkfontein Psychiatric Hospital and her community service year in the South African Defence Force. Her tertiary studies include: BPsych (University of Stellenbosch, 2005), a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology (North-West University, Potchefstroom Campus, 2006), and a PhD in Clinical Psychology (University of Johannesburg (2018). She was appointed as a Clinical Psychologist at PsyCaD at the University of Johannesburg (2009) where she served as team leader for therapeutic services before transitioning into academia (2013). She coordinated the Clinical Psychology Professional Training Programme at the University of Johannesburg before accepting a position at the University of the Western Cape (2020). She currently holds a senior lecturer position in the Department of Psychology at the University of the Western Cape. She lectures on both undergraduate and postgraduate courses as well as being involved in clinical and research supervision.

Dr Serena Isaacs is a Senior Lecturer and registered Research Psychologist in the Department of Psychology at the University of the Western Cape. She graduated with a PhD in psychology, funded through the National Research Foundation of South Africa Thuthuka PhD-track, in 2018.

Her research interests lie primarily in community psychology, child/family/community resilience studies and substance use in the Western Cape. She teaches at both an undergraduate and postgraduate level as well as supervises masters and PhD students.

She is currently piloting and evaluating the Family Resilience Strengthening Programme within a rural community on the West Coast of South Africa as part of her post-doctoral work, funded by the National Research Foundation through the Thuthuka programme.

Mr Jackson is an associate lecturer within the department of psychology at the University of the Western Cape (UWC). He completed his B.Psych degree at Pearson Institute, Durbanville campus and his MA Research Psychology degree at UWC. He is registered as both a counsellor and a research psychologist with the Health Professions Council of South Africa. Mr Jackson is currently involved in teaching at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels whilst also engaging in the research supervision of both Honours and Masters students within the department of Psychology. He also serves as an internal reviewer for the Journal of Culture, health and sexuality as well as Social and health sciences journal.

Dr Munnik is a clinical psychologist registered at the HPCSA since 2001. She is a senior lecturer, researcher and supervisor at the Faculty of Community and Health Sciences at University of the Western Cape. She teaches and does clinical and research supervision on Masters and Honors level. She has coordinated the MPsych programme and the psychology clinic in the past. Dr Munnik's special fields of interest include short term therapy with adults and children in a variety of areas such as depression, anxiety, adjustment difficulties, trauma, loss and bereavement, child emotional and behavioral difficulties, burnout and stress. Her Ph.D and post doctoral study is NRF funded, in the field of psychological assessment, with a focus on test construction. She is affiliated and an active member of UNICEF, ARCID and PsySSA.

Ms Noordien is a lecturer within the department of psychology at the University of the Western Cape (UWC). Dr Pedro is a Research Psychologist and a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Psychology at the University of the Western Cape. For the past 8 years she has taken a special interest in working with children presenting with special needs. She is particularly involved with the development of remedial programmes, psycho-educational workshops for parents and preschool educators. Much of her focus has been on providing support for parents and educators who are from impoverished communities.

Ms. Mariska Pienaar is a registered counselling psychologist and holds a Masters in Counselling Psychology from the University of KwaZulu-Natal.
Following the completion of her Masters, Ms. Pienaar spent five years working in research investigating the neuro-behavioural correlates of fetal alcohol spectrum disorders. Thereafter, she spent two years working as a counselling psychologist at Stellenbosch University’s Centre for Student Counselling and Development.

Ms. Pienaar joined UWC’s Department of Psychology as lecturer in 2012, where she teaches at undergraduate, honours, and masters levels. Her research interests include: contemporary applications of pschoanalytic personality theories, with a special interest in Kohut’s self psychology and object relations theory; personality development; ecopsychology, substance abuse and addiction; criminal psychology; and student adjustment and success.

Dr Jenny Rose is a registered Clinical Psychologist and Senior Lecturer in the Department of Psychology at the University of the Western Cape. Dr Rose lectures and supervises at both Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels. She completed her Undergraduate, Honours and Clinical Psychology Masters training at the University of Pretoria. Her internship and community service was done at Weskoppies Psychiatric Hospital in Pretoria. Having worked as the Chief Clinical Psychologist of the Child and Family Unit at Weskoppies, Dr Rose posesses significant expertise relating to areas such as Psychopathology; Attachment and working with Parent-child Interactions.

Having studied in all the three universities in the Western Cape - UWC (undergraduate), UCT (honours), and Stellenbosch (masters and D.Phil, as well as as a postdoctoral research fellow), Prof Nceba Z. Somhlaba joined UWC's psychology department after a 9-year tenure of teaching at Stellenbosch University. Prof Somhlaba teaching interests range from psychopathology, theories of personality development, professional and research ethics. His research includes grief, bereavement and loss; stress, appraisal and coping (and has supervised various students in these, and other, areas at honours, masters and PhD levels).

Dr Tucker is a registered Clinical Psychologist and Senior Lecturer in the Department of Psychology at the University of the Western Cape (UWC). She completed her academic qualifications via the University of KwaZulu-Natal, with clinical training in various hospitals across the Durban metropole. Dr Tucker is the coordinator for the Psychology Honours programme, and teaches across Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels, including the MPsych Clinical programme. She supervises Honours, Masters and Doctoral students. Her research interests include discursive constructions of health and illness, particularly in relation to child and adolescent mental health; young masculinities; and human-animal interaction, specifically, animal-assisted interventions and ethical practice. Dr Tucker is the Chairperson for Pets as Therapy (South Africa), a non-profit organisation that organises for volunteers and their animal companions to provide therapeutic comfort and support to individuals residing in hospitals, hospices, retirement homes, frail care facilities, special needs schools, and residential centres. Ms Michéle Willemse joined the University of Western Cape’s Psychology Department as a lecturer in 2013 where she currently teaches at Undergraduate and Post-Graduate levels. She obtained a Masters in Psychology- by thesis at the University of Stellenbosch and thereafter a Masters in Clinical Psychology at the University of Pretoria. After obtaining her Clinical Psychology qualification, Ms. Willemse accumulated a variety of clinical experience at the Lentegeur Psychiatric Hospital in Mitchells Plain, Cape Town and the Dr George Mukhari Hospital in Ga-Rankuwa, Pretoria-North. Her research interests include: ADHD, Children and Resilience, Developmental Psychology, Race in Psychology, Health Psychology, Personality Psychology and Group Dynamics.
