I got mine in red and so far I have no issues with it. I received this item in 2-days with Amazon Prime without a problem. It came exactly as described. I feel like those who say got headphones that are fake or broken are either unlucky or bought it through Amazon used or new but from a different seller. Make sure you buy your items "ships from and sold by Amazon.com" Anyway, about these headphones... PROS: - Lightweight. I can hardly feel it on my head. I'm not even exaggerating when I say I sometimes forgot that I'm wearing headphones. - Comfortable fit. I wear glasses but these don't pinch my glasses to the sides of my face when I wear them. This is always something I worry about when getting headphones. The ear cushions are much softer than it looks and than what I would've thought which is great. The padding on the band is also a plus since it makes it so the top of my head is cushioned. My head is neither large or too small either and these stay on well without slipping off pr moving around the place. - No battery = No need to charge. I own another pair of headphones and it includes a battery (it's noise cancelling) and although I didn't have to charge it too often, it's still a huge perk for me to own a pair of headphones that don't need charging. - Design + Color. I got mine in red and I love it. I also adore the design. It looks flattering which is something I also care about when buying large headphones. (I wouldn't want to wear anything on my head if it doesn't look nice lol) - Noise Cancelling(?). I put a (?) because I'm not sure if these headphones are advertised to be noise-cancelling or not. My headphones from Bose is noise-cancelling and I can tell the difference so I assumed the XB550AP aren't noise-cancelling... and yet it's able to tune out a good amount of outside noise, so I say that's a big plus! - Flat wires. No tangles! - Sound Quality. Crisp sound and the over all quality is just too good. - Price. Need I say more? For the quality you get from this headphone, $50+ is cheap in my opinion. CONS: - Wired. I wouldn't have minded it being wired if the wire was at least on one side instead of on both ear pieces. Admittedly, I think it looks cuter that way but it does get in the way. It limits the manner in which I can remove the headphones from my head. (Need to pull it up/forward and removes the option of just pulling it from one side.) This is just my preference though - Doesn't come with a bag or any kind of case. This headphone doesn't come with any form of storage which is a bit of a let down. - Would've loved more buttons on the controls instead of one multi-function one just to have more control over what I can do. - Design + Color. To be precise, its just the top part I'm not too happy with. I kinda wish they painted the stainless steel (or whatever that silver bit is made of :p) area red instead of leaving it silver, it would've made the entire thing look better. (Sorry, I care a lot about aesthetic lol) Also, I was actually debating between the XB550AP and the MDRXB650BT. I assume they're exactly the same look-wise with the only difference that the latter is wireless. But the MDRXB650BT doesn't have a wired option which means I'm stuck to always using it with a battery (and therefore screwed if I ever forget to charge it) which made my decision to get the XB550AP fairly easy. Maybe if Sony makes a headphone that has an either-or version for the wiring of the MDRXB650BT then I would've definitely chosen that instead of this. (I know the XB950N1 is like this in that it can be wireless/wired but I can't get those since I'm a fan of on-ear instead of over-the-ear... that pair is much too large/bulky to look decent on my head lol) 8 people found this helpful Report Reviewed in the United States on December 3, 2023 I've been looking for headphones that have high-quality sound, but also are comfortable...and found both of those qualities with these headphones. Many of today's wireless headphones that I've purchased are too tight/uncomfortable and have okay sound, however, these Sony headphones are just what I was looking for!! Yes, they are wired headphones, but I generally listen to music while at my desk, so being mobile and walking around from room to room isn't an issue. I've had Sony headphones in the past and always enjoyed their sound quality, so I was 99.9% sure I'd be getting that with these...and I did, and they even sound BETTER than previous Sony headphones I've used. Rich bass, clear treble, and overall full sound. If you are good with getting wired headphones and want to enjoy high-quality sound all at a great price, these are the headphones for you!! Reviewed in the United States on October 27, 2023 I was hesitant to get these at first. I don't like extra anything, as that changes the sound. If I want more bass, I EQ for listening. But what got me interested was the frequency response. 5hz is so low we cannot hear it. So it doesn't matter really, but what I thought was... If I can hear 21hz or subsonics, I may get better mixing results. Turns out, these reproduce the subsonic frequencies amazingly well. It's not 'extra bass' but better resolution. Don't believe me? The first time I wore them I was listening to a podcast, and I could hear the mic boom arm resonating these low booms every time the speaker or guest set their hands on the desk. At first, I thought it was me, or the mic on the headset. It wasn't. Almost every YouTube video where there was someone at their desk exhibited this! I downloaded a video, rolled off 20hz in Wavelab, and then listened again... And the phones exhibited no subsonic booms. I use these now in the studio as a secondary pair to check bass. They are not flat, so I cannot rely on mixing with them persay. However, they perform well as a tool to reveal problems in the extremely low bass area of your mixes. 4 Stars only because I would love a pro version of these with no microphone and removable cable, but I am being picky. Reviewed in the United States on March 14, 2021 Headphones are a way of life for the mobile music producer. Some of us don't have loot to burn on the best of the best, and let's face it, mobile loosely translates to "rugged and durable". I have a few sets of higher-end cans for use in the studio, but ain't no way in Fort Hell I'm gonna have them on while riding the rails and roads on public transportation. I needed something I'm not gonna miss (that much) if they end up broken, stolen or otherwise in need of being replaced. Enter THESE bad boys. They have a solid sound quality, they look good and they even give better than average quality in voice chats and phone calls. The right-angle plug is also a plus with someone like me, as well as the flat cord. My sons keep tearing theirs up and almost invariably ask me for mine a lot. They tell me they work like a charm every time. Can't argue with that, and they're avid gamers and Tok Tikkers or whatever that junk is they dig so much (shrug, yawn). You can obviously do better, but it's likely gonna cost you more or they won't last as long. Save yourself some grief and treat yourself to these. You're welcome. This isnt the first time I have bought the same exact headphones, because it my second and even though the first one broke it wasnt because of sound quality or wiring problem. I actually broke the 1st pair headphones metal parts (on top of the head)only which it made it uncomfortable to wear and I had the first one for 3 years. So when I was on the market for a second, looked at different brands but I just loved the experience I had with the first one so I bought the 2nd exact one. The sound is very clear, love the extra bass feeling in my music. Very comfortable in the ear and works great with gaming for chatting. Will update after a months use in detail. But I read about pain in the ear for longer period, but I have used it for continous 4-5 hrs and there is nothing painful, though without spectacles. It's very soft on the ears.
