So sánh hơn là một loại câu so sánh cơ bản, được sử dụng thường xuyên cả trong văn viết và văn nói Tiếng Anh.

1. Tóm tắt kiến thức về so sánh hơn trong tiếng Anh

Trước khi thực hành làm các bài tập về so sánh hơn, các bạn hãy ôn tập lại về cấu trúc và cách dùng loại câu so sánh này nhé.

1.1. Khái niệm và cách dùng so sánh hơn

Cấu trúc so sánh hơn trong tiếng Anh là loại câu so sánh được dùng để so sánh 2 đối tượng về một đặc điểm hay tính chất nào đó.

Ví dụ:

• Your cat is smaller than mine. (Con mèo của bạn nhỏ hơn con mèo của tôi.)
• She runs faster than her boyfriend. (Cô ấy chạy nhanh hơn bạn trai của mình.)

Để làm các bài tập so sánh hơn một cách chính xác, các bạn cần nắm được cấu trúc so sánh hơn với tính từ và trạng từ:

1.2. Cấu trúc so sánh hơn với tính từ và trạng từ ngắn

Với các tính từ/trạng từ ngắn, trong cấu trúc so sánh hơn, bạn cần thêm đuôi “-er” vào cuối tính từ/trạng từ

Công thức:

S + V + Adj/Adv + er + than + …

Ví dụ:

• The exam is easier than I expected. (Bài kiểm tra có dễ hơn tôi nghĩ.)
• She got up earlier than her brother. (Cô ấy thức dậy sớm hơn anh trai cô ấy.)

Một số lưu ý khi thêm đuôi “-er”

Trong trường hợp tính từ/trạng từ ngắn kết thúc bằng "e," bạn chỉ cần thêm "r". Ví dụ:

• late -> later
• large -> larger

Với những tính từ/trạng từ ngắn có đuôi “-y”, bạn cần chuyển “y” thành “i” rồi mới thêm đuôi “-er”. Ví dụ:

• happy -> happier
• early -> earlier

Với những tính từ/trạng từ ngắn tận cùng bằng một phụ âm, trước nó là 1 nguyên âm, bạn cần gấp đôi phụ âm cuối cùng trước khi thêm "er." Ví dụ:

• big -> bigger
• hot -> hotter

1.3. Cấu trúc so sánh hơn với tính từ/trạng từ dài

Với các tính từ hoặc trạng từ dài, trong câu so sánh hơn bạn cần thêm more trước tính từ/trạng từ đó:

S + V + more + Adj/Adv + than

Ví dụ:

• He speaks English more fluently than his brother. (Anh ấy nói tiếng Anh lưu loát hơn anh trai của anh ấy.)
• She is more beautiful than her sister? (Cô ấy xinh hơn chị gái của cô ấy.)

2. Một số tính từ và trạng từ bất quy tắc trong Tiếng Anh

Bên cạnh cách biến đổi tính từ/trạng từ sang so sánh hơn bằng việc thêm đuôi -er thì một số tính từ/trạng từ bất quy tắc mà bạn cần nắm được để tránh mất điểm khi làm bài tập so sánh hơn.

3. Lưu ý khi làm bài tập so sánh hơn Tiếng Anh

Trong các câu so sánh hơn, sau “than” có thể là một đại từ, danh từ, cụm danh từ hoặc mệnh đề. Ví dụ:

• Alice is smarter than her elder brother. (Alice thông minh hơn anh trai cô ấy.)
• The film is more interesting than I expected. (Bộ phim thú vị hơn tôi dự đoán.)

Trong trường hợp khi bạn so sánh một người với tất cả người/vật khác thì người hay vật trong vế còn lại sẽ thêm “else” sau anything/anybody

Ví dụ: She is smarter than anybody else in the class. (Cô ấy thông minh hơn bất kỳ ai khác trong lớp.)

So sánh hơn với tính từ ngắn là gì?

So sánh hơn là cấu trúc sử dụng để so sánh giữa 2 người, sự vật hoặc hiện tượng. Đối với cấu trúc này, tính từ ngắn sẽ thêm “er” vào cuối. Ví dụ: My brother is taller than me.

Tính từ đại và tính từ ngắn là gì?

Tính từ dài trong tiếng Anh là những từ có từ 2 âm tiết trở lên. Tính từ dài (long adjectives), là tính từ có 2 âm tiết trở lên (pleasant, expensive, intellectual…) Ngoài ra, những tính từ kết thúc bằng “-le, -er, -et, -ow” được xem vừa là tính từ ngắn vừa là tính từ dài (quiet, simple, happy…)

Irregular adj là gì?

Tính từ bất quy tắc (irregular adjectives) là loại từ không tuân theo quy tắc thêm hậu tố "-er" hoặc "-est" để tạo thành dạng so sánh hơn và so sánh nhất.

So sánh hơn trong tiếng Anh là gì?

Khái niệm so sánh hơn trong tiếng Anh Cấu trúc so sánh hơn (Comparative) trong tiếng Anh thường được sử dụng để so sánh mức độ, kích thước, chất lượng,… của hai hoặc nhiều đối tượng, sự vật, tính chất hoặc hành động. Ví dụ so sánh hơn: The blue car is faster than the red car.
