Kinda, sorta, bought this by mistake, as in I taught that these were exfoliating pads. But they’re not. You still get a review though. Lucky you.

+INGREDIENTS

Ingredients: Water, Butylene Glycol, Rose Extract, Phenoxyethanol, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Polyacrylic Acid, Tromethamine, Ethylhexylglycerin, Disodium Edta, Fragrance, Glycerin, Nelumbo Nucifera Flower Extract, Prunus Mume Fruit Extract, Tocopherol, Lactic Acid, Citric Acid.

🌹In-Depth Details Of Interesting Ingredients:

Rose Extract: (90.97%) Anti-inflammatory + inhibitor against elastase and collagenase (enzymes that degrade elastin and collagen) + anti-aging + antioxidant. Contains Vitamins A, C, D, and E. Gentle antiseptic and astringent that also prevents blemishes, minimize redness and soothe irritation. Ideal for all skin types.

PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil: is a surfactant: it helps water mix with oil and dirt so that they can be rinsed away, leaving skin and hair clean.

Disodium EDTA: ‘‘has been shown to enhance the dermal penetration of other ingredients contained in a product.’’ I’m including this ingredient in this list just to note the fact that most ingredients that I don’t mention serve in either aiding absorption, preserving the product or making the consistency more appealing.

Nelumbo nucifera flower extract (lotus): antioxidant + intense hydrater/moisturizer + balances oily skin

Tocopherol: Vitamin E

Lactic Acid: An AHA, exfoliates the skin, lightens dark spots, and improves the look of fine lines and wrinkles.

Pad fabric: Highly adhesive organic cotton, ultralight mesh pad.

+how to use the Mamonde Rose Water Toner Pad

1.Take out the pad and apply on forehead, cheek or chin, use it as sheet mask, leave it 10-15 minutes and take off, pad the face gently until the remains are absorbed.

2.After cleansing in the morning, use the pad to replace the toner, wipe the face by following skin texture, pad the face gently until the remains are absorbed

3.Leave the pads on the face while drying hair or applying lip & eye makeup. Remove the pads and then apply base makeup for an effective use.

When I bought this product I originally taught that it was an exfoliating pad, but after much research, I realize that this is designed to be used as a kind of DIY sheet mask soaked in the Mamonde rose water toner. The pads can be used like the Cosrx toner ones if you’re familiar with them, I used them that way my first time and was quite annoyed to find out that they were so saturated with the toner that the liquid kept on dripping on my neck, but I then realized that the sheets were extremely thin and I had accidentally used like 5 in one go. If you’re careful enough to peal of the pads that are kind of glued together, the sheet you’re left with is actually pretty good at what it does.

+what does the Mamonde Rose Water Toner Pad do?

I couldn’t find claims for the pads specifically, but since they are advertised as ‘‘Cotton pads soaked in rose water toner that can be used as a toner or a sheet mask’’, I’ll just be using the ones made for the toner. I mean at this point I’m basically reviewing the toner as well anyway.

‘‘Rose water toner contains 90.97% rose water, instead of regular water, for more soothing hydration with each swipe. Damask Rose Water delivers soothing and moisturizing effects for the skin, making it look clearer and more energized. It effectively takes care of dead skin cells and skin texture for clearer, refreshed looking skin.’’

1.Soothing hydration and moisturizing effects: A lot of people have extremely red skin and look for ways to get rid of it or tune it down and I think this is a very good product for doing that. I don’t feel like I particularly suffer from skin redness because although I get red very easily and my cheeks are almost always red since the redness limits itself in my cheek area, it just looks like blush and I don’t really care. But if you’re really red and it bothers you, try using anything with rose water in it, it’s been proven to help, and this product applies to the rule (Look at the before and after pictures). So yes for soothing, an obvious yes for hydration, but although it does have some moisturizing ingredients, I do feel like you still need to apply a moisturizer after using this if you live in a colder dryer area. But if it’s summer and hot, yes, this is moisturizing enough too. The soothing hydration sensation is also extremely refreshing, it’s a shame because it’s winter right now where I live, but I feel like this will become a staple in my skincare routine in summer because of how refreshing my skin feels after each use.

2.Skin looks clearer and more energized: Well... Surprisingly, yes. Surprisingly, because if it hadn’t been clear, I really did not expect anything from this product. My skin looks brighter and consequently more energized, It’s not an AMAZINGLY HUGE difference, but it’s nice and I like it.

3.Clears dead skin cells and improves skin texture: No, I don’t think so. Although the rose water toner pads do contain ingredients like Lactic Acid and Citric Acid which are known to exfoliate the skin, they’re mentioned in the last bit of the ingredient list, which means in smaller concentration and so their efficacy is lowered if present at all (Citric Acid is also used to balance a solution’s PH, and in small concentration won’t even act as an Exfoliator for example). I’ve used this a couple of times and I haven’t noticed any skin texture difference, and this definitely can’t replace a good Exfoliator.

4.Long-lasting moisture barrier: Yes. As I mentioned you do need to use a moisturizer after this if you live in a dryer area, but otherwise the moisture lasted a solid day with me.

This is a product I really really really did not think I would enjoy. I was set on writing a bad review because the concept seemed like such a waste of time. But having the ability to move your face around and eat and drink while you wait for your skin to suck in the moisture is surprisingly refreshing, and it’s something you wouldn’t be able to do if you had on a sheet mask. The biggest selling factor for me is how refreshed my skin feels after 15 minutes of the pads casually hanging out on my cheeks and forehead.

At this point, you may be thinking that buying the toner is a safer bet than buying the pads. I originally would have strongly agreed but the people over at Amore Pacific (that own Mamonde) made a study on women aged between 20 and 39 and found the following results:

So apparently if you want to maximize your moisture, you can either use the 7 skin method (in which you apply a little amount of the toner for a grand total of 7 times) or let the pads on your face for 15 minutes, which sounds less ridiculous in my book. And yes, before you ask, I have tried the 7 skin methods with other toners for a while, and the method is great and it works but your girl ain’t got time for that kind of dedication. Now the next obvious would be the following: Wouldn’t it be smarter to just buy the toner, and soak it in your own cotton pads? No. Why? Because the cotton pads you use are probably pretty thick, and you’ll need a lot of product to saturate them with the toner. Plus, if you want to use organic cotton pads as they did, and also buy the toner, in the long run, you’ll be spending more money since the pads are less expensive than the toner itself.

+benefits:

  1. Very Easy to use
  2. Efficient way to hydrate your skin
  3. Refreshing toner with great results
  4. Perfect for sensitive skins
  5. All kinds of skin can use this, especially oily skin because of how light it is.
  6. Smooths down fine lines

-CONS

  1. Very Runny if squeezed or wiped with
  2. Sheets are very thin and kind of annoying to remove from pot

🌹🌹🌹🌹Score: 4.0/5 or 3.0/5 —— I’m giving this a 4.0 in Summer and a 3.0 in Winter. You don’t need refreshing products in winter, but I already know how amazing this is going to feel in Beirut’s infernal summer.

Is Mamonde skincare good?

I have to say I really enjoy this toner. It leaves my skin feeling bright and moisturized while leaving a rosy floral smell. I feel it gets into my pores and at the same time lift whatever dirt my face has collected and that always leaves me satisfied. I would definitely give this a try.
