Is the 2023 Ford Ranger coming to us?

Say it isn’t so. We don’t want the new Ford Ranger to be pushed back. However, supply chain issues might strike again by pushing the official launch of the 2023 Ford Ranger back. Let’s see what’s impacting this truck.

The 2023 Ford Ranger could get delayed

As you may already know, the Ford Ranger is coming out in other countries, like Australia, first. So over here in America, we already have to wait longer than we would like to get behind the wheel of the 2023 Ford Ranger.

Now the next-generation Ford Ranger might be delayed even further. According to Ford Authority, the Ranger was supposed to launch in Australia in June, and the Raptor was scheduled for July.

Now the regular model will arrive in July, and the Ford Ranger Raptor was pushed back to August.

While that’s only a one-month delay, we are worried that it could snowball into something much larger. Two months in Australia could turn into an even longer amount of time for other countries.

Why is the 2023 Ranger being delayed?

The 2023 Ford Ranger struggled with supplies issues due to Coronavirus (COVID-19) lockdowns in China. A whopping 91 suppliers in China are responsible for 393 necessary parts for the new model.

A Ford spokesperson reportedly shared that they continue to face the global semiconductor shortage too. The supply chain issues and chip shortages combined to create longer waiting times.

On a positive note, Ford is working to limit wait times. The first Ranger models should reach Australia in July. Then the Raptor Ranger should be available in August.

But these are only estimated waiting times. Supply chain issues and the chip shortage could contribute to more delays. Ford will make communicating with dealerships a priority to keep customers correctly informed.

The first shipment of the next-generation Ford Ranger recently left Thailand Manufacturing (FTM) last week. So, we can celebrate the fact that production has officially started.

Production of European Ford Ranger models includes new turbocharged diesel engines that probably won’t come to America. We probably won’t get the manual option either.

How much does the 2023 Ranger cost?

The 2023 Ford Ranger is expected to start at around $28,000 in America. The is an estimated price for a rear-wheel drive model with an extended cab. Higher trim levels could increase the price to about $40,000.

In America, the Ranger will probably kick things offer with the current generation’s 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine with 270 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque. But rumors suggest that a hybrid powertrain is in the works.

A standard 10.1-inch infotianment system helps to modernize the interior, plus you can upgrade to an even larger 12.1-inch screen. We hope that wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard.

More standard safety features could be available, and the Ford Ranger Raptor is expected to offer more power. We should learn more soon as the 2023 model could arrive by the end of the year.

We will continue reporting the latest updates and hope that the Ranger remains on schedule without any more disruptions.

Is the 2023 Ford Ranger worth waiting for?

While the 2022 Ford F-150 has its fair share of Raptor models, from the 450-horsepower 'regular' to the 5.2L Supercharged Raptor R, it's the smaller 2023 Ranger Raptor that piques our interest. In fact, we reckon this off-road-ready Ranger has so much potential that it's worth waiting for its arrival here.
