Chỉ còn chưa đến 10 ngày nữa, kỳ thi tuyển sinh vào lớp 10 tại Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh chính thức được bắt đầu. Đây là kỳ thi vô cùng quan trọng đối với các em học sinh lớp 9, nhằm tìm cho mình được một chỗ học lớp 10 tại các trường trung học phổ thông công lập tại thành phố. Với vai trò là giáo viên giảng dạy tại trường trung học phổ thông Chuyên Trần Đại Nghĩa (quận 1, Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh) trên 20 năm, thầy Nguyễn Hùng Mạnh – Tổ phó Tổ Ngoại ngữ có một vài chia sẻ để các em học sinh lớp 9 ôn tập và làm bài thi tiếng Anh một cách hiệu quả trong kì thi tuyển sinh 10 tới đây.
Khi làm bài thi môn Tiếng Anh thường, thầy Mạnh cho rằng học sinh lưu ý cần tránh những điểm sau đây: 1. Không hấp tấp và không làm bài bất cẩn vì với thời gian làm bài 90 phút, các em có nhiều thời gian để đọc kĩ từng chữ, từng câu. 2. Trong phần word formation, các em tránh viết sai spelling, tránh viết thường khi từ đó ở vị trí đầu câu, tránh viết danh từ số nhiều thiếu S hay động từ ngôi thứ ba số ít thiếu S. 3. Trong phần Reading Comprehension, tránh viết tắt T cho TRUE hay F cho FALSE khi trả lời câu hỏi. 4. Tránh dùng bút chì khi làm bài tự luận. Dùng bút bi màu xanh khi làm bài tự luận. Theo thầy Mạnh, trong bài thi môn tiếng Anh thường, các em cần lưu ý những điểm sau đây: 1. Dạng đề thi môn tiếng Anh năm nay gồm 40 câu – thời gian làm bài 90 phút I. Choose the word whose underlined part is pronounced differently from that of the others. (Phát âm - chọn từ có phần gạch dưới phát âm khác với phần gạch dưới của các từ còn lại) II. Choose the word whose stress pattern is different from that of the other three. (Dấu nhấn – chọn từ có dấu nhấn khác với dấu nhấn của các từ còn lại ) III. Choose the word / phrase (A, B, C or D) that best fits the space in each sentence. (Kiểm tra về từ vựng, văn phạm và ngôn ngữ giao tiếp (communicative language in everyday conversation) IV. Look at the notices. Choose the best answer (A, B, C or D) for each question. (Đọc hiểu các thông báo ở nơi công cộng để chọn câu trả lời đúng nhất) V. Read the following passage. Decide if the statements are True or False, and choose the correct answers (A, B, C or D) for the following questions. (Đọc hiểu đoạn văn ngắn để chọn câu trả lời đúng nhất) VI. Choose the word (A, B, C or D) that best fits the blank space in the following passage. (Chọn từ có sẵn trong 4 chọn lựa (options) để điền vào đoạn văn) VII. Use the correct form of the word given in each sentence. (Chia dạng từ thích hợp cho mỗi chỗ trống: động từ - danh từ - tính từ - trạng từ) VIII. Rearrange the groups of words in a correct order to make complete sentences. (Sắp xếp lại các nhóm từ để tạo thành câu có nghĩa) IX. Rewrite each of the following sentences in another way so that it means almost the same as the sentence printed before it. (Viết lại câu theo 1 cách khác sao cho nó gần nghĩa nhất với câu gốc) 2. Các em phải nhớ tốt từ vựng từ bài 1 đến bài 10 trong sách tiếng Anh lớp 9 của Bộ Giáo dục và Đào tạo vì các từ vựng này được kiểm tra trong các phần II và VI. Khi làm bài tập về từ vựng, các em cần biết cách sử dụng từ và nhận biết sự khác biệt giữa các từ để có thể chọn được câu trả lời đúng. Các options khác sai vì các từ đó cần có giới từ theo sau. 4. Đối với phần V Đọc hiểu (Reading Comprehension), ngoài các câu hỏi True/False – yêu cầu tìm thông tin chi tiết trong đoạn văn, các đề thi của những năm gần đây có thêm 2 câu hỏi dạng sau đây: Question type 1: Topic and main idea What is the (main) topic of this passage? / What is the subject of the entire passage? / What is the best title for the passage? / What does this passage mainly discuss? / What is the passage mainly about? What is the main idea of the passage? Question type 2: Inference question It is implied in the passage that ..... / It can be inferred from the passage that...... / It is most likely that ...... Hai loại câu hỏi này khó và dễ dàng mất điểm nên các em cần đọc thật kĩ đoạn văn và các em phải mất nhiều thời gian để tìm câu trả lời chính xác. Các em học sinh, đặc biệt các em có vốn từ ít nên làm phần Đọc hiểu sau cùng sau khi đã làm các phần khác trong đề thi tuyển sinh. Từ vựng tiếp tục đóng vai trò quan trọng trong bài thi Tiếng Anh tuyển sinh 10. Nếu không có vốn từ tốt, các em không thể làm tốt các phần IV, V, VII và VIII. Các em cần dành nhiều thời gian luyện tập các loại bài tập được kiểm tra trong các phần này trong đề thi. 5. Trong phần IX - Biến đổi câu, các em phải nắm vững cấu trúc và hiểu nghĩa của câu gốc. Để làm tốt loại bài tập này, khi học các cấu trúc văn phạm, các em phải nhận biết được sự tương đồng giữa hai cấu trúc khi viết câu mà nghĩa không đổi. Các em nên xem lại các cấu trúc văn phạm từ bài 1 học đến bài 10 và các bài tập biến đổi câu kèm theo về cấu trúc văn phạm đó. 6. Trong hầu hết các đề thi Tiếng Anh tuyển sinh 10 luôn có 1 hay 2 câu kiểm tra các em về ngôn ngữ giao tiếp (communicative language). Các em cần xem lại phần SPEAK của sách giáo khoa tiếng Anh 8 và 9 để biết expressions of language được sử dụng khi making requests, suggestions, offers ... và cách trả lời (responses). Khi làm bài tập loại này, các em cần phải chọn câu trả lời không chỉ đúng về nghĩa mà còn nghe đúng về khía cạnh văn hóa. Việt Dũng
