i have to buy laptop with in range of 650-750$, and i am so confused what to buy, can anyone help me?
please guide me whats the difference between 3rh & 4th generation computers

3rd generation Laptop release date

There are two types of CPUs: mobile CPU are for laptops, netbooks and tablet, and "regular" CPUs are for desktops. Mobile CPUs are a derivative of desktop CPUs designed to consume less power and can be less powerful as well since the higher the performance the more electricity the CPU will use. However, that is not to say mobile CPUs are all weak, just not as powerful as "regular" CPUs. However, mobile CPUs meant to consume as little power as possible are generally the weaker models. For the average person, there is not much of a difference. The basic difference between Intel's 4th generation (Haswell) CPU and 3rd generation (Ivy Bridge) CPU are as follows: 1. Lower power consumption. 2. Slightly better CPU. Assuming the same clockspeed (like 2.1GHz) and number of CPU cores (dual / quad), Haswell CPUs are 6% more powerful. 3. More powerful integrated graphics core (iGPU) which means better performance in games, but still relatively poor performance compared to a dedicated laptop for games. Outside of games the average person will not see the difference between iGPU in Haswell and Sandy Bride CPUs. EDIT:: 3rd gen is Ivy Bridge, not Sandy Bridge which is 2nd gen.

People are probably talking about the cpu in that case, where: 3rd generation = Ivy Bridge

The 4th generation is considered by many to be better for mobile computers

You should provide some additional information about what you are looking for in a laptop like: 1. Size 2. Weight 3. Screen resolution

4. Battery life

Alright now can you guide me with laptop selection too HP, Dell or Acer whats the best in my range

Laptop type stuff. The differences arent too great, both generations will work perfectly fine. Haswell has better integrated (graphics on the cpu) graphics which means you potentially wouldnt need to go out and get a better graphics card depending on your uses. Haswell is supposed to be a bit faster, although not by much. And I think it uses less power, so your battery might last longer.

But regardless, you would probably find suitable laptops for your needs from either generation

4. Battery life

it should be in range of 600-700$ range, must have 4th generation, screen resolution that much that i can enjoy movies and good battery life

The examples I provided can play movies just fine. You need to define "good battery life". You can research laptops at notebookreview.com.

According to these reviews Lenovo is better than HP, and people tell me entirely different. so what to go for? :O

3rd generation Laptop release date

I generally prefer Lenovo laptops. Ultimately, it is your decision. The Lenovo 14" Z410 and 15.6" Z510 series would be fine for what you want to do. There is no configuration options so just choose the model you want. Personally, I would choose the Z510 $780 model because it has a 1920x1080 resolution screen which is better for multitasking since it can display a lot of information on the screen; it would allow me to have two documents open side-by-side, or see multiple windows / programs without having to switch back and forth.

As for HP, below is a link for 15.6" HP laptops. HP allows you to customize these laptops if you wish. If I had to choose one it would probably be the ENVY 15t-j100 Select Edition for $550 and I would personally get the optional 1920x1080 resolution screen for another $50.

All HP 15.6" Laptops

HP ENVY 15t-j100 Select Edition

You do not necessarily need a 1920x1080 resolution screen to watch movies, a 1366x768 resolution screen will do just fine; many people watch 1080p movies on 1366x768 resolution screens. You can save a bit of money by not opting for it. But like I said, ultimately the choice is yours.

I am going to assume you are comparing the Asus VivoBook to the lowest priced 14" Z410 which costs $467 and weighs 4.4lbs (vs. Z510 for $444, but 4.9lbs, but otherwise same specs). The Asus has a Core i3 CPU running at 1.8GHz while the Z410 has a Celeron running at 2.0GHz. But the Core i3 also has something called Hyper Threading which can help improve performance in some general case (can also be a beit technical as well). Overall, performance should be fairly equal. While Lenovo's site list the Celeron as having an Intel HD 4000 graphics core (same as the Asus), it is actually a misprint. The Celeron simply has an Intel HD graphics core (no model #). That means the Asus is more capable of playing games than the Lenovo Z410. For example, you can play the Sims 3 with medium quality on the Asus Vivobook while on the Lenovo Z410 I generally you don't even bother trying.

Either one can play movies just fine and based on the difference in price ($350 vs $467) the Asus is easier on your pocketbook... plus it's PINK. The only issue you might have is how small text will appear on a 11.6" screen vs. a 14" screen. You can always walk into an electronics store and check out any 11.6" laptop they may have... just in case. But the difference should not be that much especially if you have decent eyesight.
