When can I order a 2023 Bronco

Sources close to the matter have said order books will open shortly.

The revival of the Ford Bronco has done wonders for the Blue Oval. The combination of retro styling and go-anywhere capability has proven alluring, with customers flocking to Ford dealerships in their droves. This has caused a few problems for the carmaker; put simply, it's struggling to meet strong demand.

If you're one of the many would-be owners waiting to get your hands on a Bronco, this is an understandably frustrating situation. Happily, there's some good news on the horizon. Sources close to the matter have told Ford Authority the order books for the 2023 Ford Bronco will open on August 15, 2022.

This snippet of information will come as music to the ears of many. Aside from strong demand, Bronco production has also been plagued by industry issues such as the chip crisis and supply chain issues. In February of this year, Ford had to suspend assembly of the rugged off-roader, as well as the Mustang Mach-E and F-150.

Interestingly, not all Bronco demands can be traced back to popularity or lack of supply. Excited owners have faced unusual delays; curiously, some examples of the in-demand off-roader have been sitting in Ford factory lots for extended periods, with one owner reporting his delivery date was pushed back by more than two months.

There's no word yet as to when production will kick off, but the same sources told the publication that the Michigan-based facility should start spewing out 2023 Broncos on November 14 - it's worth noting this hasn't been confirmed by Ford and can change in the coming months.

We're left wondering what updates the new model year will usher in. For the regular models, we expect the inline-four and V6 to soldier on unchanged but, hopefully, Ford adds more accessories and color choices. The real excitement comes in the form of the Bronco Raptor. With its 418-horsepower twin-turbo V6, it's set to be a hugely exciting desert destroyer.

Hopefully, Jim Farley's stern warning to dealers will prevent them from placing exorbitant markups on the desirable 2023 SUVs - some dealers have previously been caught charging more than $20,000 over the MSRP.

With the current model sold out nearly everywhere, we’re all waiting with bated breath for the new 2023 Ford Bronco. And it’s almost here! Our preview guide is here to reveal everything we know about this rugged midsize SUV so far.

What’s new for the 2023 Ford Bronco?

For 2023, Ford is rolling out the new limited-edition Bronco DR, a desert racer that takes performance to the next level. Its lightweight design and desert-specific hardware will have you leaving competitors in your literal dust. Under the Bronco DR hood, you’ll find Ford’s Coyote 5.0-liter V8 engine. Other features designed to help you win the race include 37-inch BFGoodrich mud-terrain tires and beadlock wheels.

How can I configure my 2023 Ford Bronco?

Like previous models, these new Broncos will be available with either a two- or four-door body style. Each Bronco is also available with either a soft or hard convertible top. Removable doors are also standard, giving you the full outdoor adventure experience. And there are six main trim levels (Base, Big Bend, Black Diamond, Outer Banks, Badlands, and Wildtrak) that let you balance how much you want to spend with the features you can’t live without.

We also expect to see the Bronco Raptor return for 2023, with its twin-turbo 3.0-liter EcoBoost engine. It’s more powerful than even Ford expected, helping you scale rock beds and desert dunes with 418 horsepower and 440 lb-ft of torque.

Speaking of engine options, the new Bronco will offer the same two options as before:

  • Standard 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine (300 hp, 325 lb.-ft.) + seven speed manual or optional 10-speed automatic transmission
  • Optional turbo 2.7L V6 (330 hp, 415 lb.-ft.) + 10-speed automatic

Which off-road features does the 2023 Ford Bronco offer?

When it comes to off-roading, the Bronco leaves other midsize SUVs in its dusty wake. Every trim model was designed for rugged adventure, with standard four-wheel drive. The Trail Turn Assist system, a slow-speed cruise control that lets you focus on steering out of a bad spot, is also standard.

As you climb the trim models, you’ll find more trail-friendly gear available. For instance, all-terrain tires, Fox shock absorbers, and a winch are available to help you make it through even the most difficult terrain. Pre-wired auxiliary switches are also available to make aftermarket customization a cinch.

When can I order the 2023 Ford Bronco?

This coveted off-roader can’t get here fast enough! If the new Bronco isn’t delayed, then order banks should open by the end of the summer, in August 2022. We expect this new SUV to arrive at dealerships by fall of 2022.

Ford Bronco reservation holders have exercised extreme patience over the past few years. Luckily, the wait might be over for some, as the production schedule for the 2023 model year Bronco has slipped onto the internet. So customers should be watching their emails and phones with the hope that they’ll be on the list.

2023 Ford Bronco Production Week: Details

A document posted to the Bronco6G forum states that Ford Michigan Assembly Plant in Wayne, Michigan will start scheduling for 2023 Ford Bronco production Thursday, October 6th. The immediate weeks slotted for 2023 Ford Bronco production are as follows:

  • 11/4/2022
  • 11/7/2022
  • 11/14/2022
  • 11/21/2022
  • 11/28/2022

That is the entire month of November, during which customers may have their vehicles scheduled to be built/produced once scheduling begins in the next few days. If you’ve already received word that your Bronco will be produced during the weeks listed above, you can ignore the list as it pertains to the scheduling of future production weeks. It’s also important to note that if you already have a VIN and your build is scheduled for this week, this doesn’t mean you’ll be getting a 2023 Bronco.

Ford has announced that they won’t immediately take retail orders for new customers for the 2023 Bronco. Instead, the order books are only open for those with an existing reservation or for those that are current order holders. The goal is to start chewing through the high demand that has accumulated over the past two years since the Ford Bronco first debuted. Those who have been waiting for such a long time are undoubtedly frustrated but have shown extreme patience to receive their highly capable SUV. People that have already received their orders have made it clear that it is well worth the wait.

We at MC&T want to wish reservation holders luck that their vehicles will be scheduled for the weeks listed above.

Zac's love for cars started at a young age, after seeing the popular Eleanor from Gone In 60 Seconds. From there, fascination and enthusiasm blossomed and to this day the Ford Mustang remains a favorite. His first job started out detailing cars, but also provided the opportunity to work on restoration including an 1968 Ford Mustang, Ford Firebird, and a C3 Corvette, though he left that job before further work and experience could be had. From there, he was a detailer at a car dealership before quitting that job to try and finish college.

Much of his free time while studying was spent watching YouTube videos regarding new cars, or off-roading. 4WD247 is a personal favorite channel which rekindled a dying flame in car enthusiasm, now tailored towards trucks and SUVs and the fun that can be had building up an overlanding rig, and going on adventures, though, that chapter remains unwritten for the time being.
