Disneyland Hotel reservations 2023

My family & I are travelling from the UK to California in March 2023 and would like to book a couple of nights in one of the Disney hotels. I know WDW Florida opened their bookings on 8th June, but does anyone know when Disneyland will open theirs?

Is there a specific reason you want to book one of the Disneyland Hotels? They are very different to the Walt Disney World hotels, there is only 3 and they are over priced for what they provide.

Grand California Hotel is located in Downtown Disney. The main perk here is location as it has an entrance into California Adventures Park and an entrance to Downtown Disney. It is the only purpose built Disneyland Hotel and the prices are more like a Deluxe Walt Disney World resort.

Disneyland Hotel is just across the street from one of the pedestrian entrances to Downtown Disney. It was originally an independent hotel which Disney bought and rethemed. Prices are a bit lower than Grand California Hotel.

Paradise Pier Hotel is down the street from the pedestrian entrances to Downtown Disney. It was originally an independent hotel which Disney bought and rethemed. Prices are a bit lower than Disneyland Hotel.

Most people stay offsite on the Harbour Boulevard side of Disneyland. There is a huge number of hotels and motels for all budget types, and many have a shorter walking distance the the actual park turnstyle entrances than the Disney hotels.

I have booked Desert Inn and Suites for my next visit in a few weeks. It is a motel just across from the Harbour Boulevard pedestrian entrance and the last time I stayed there it took me about 7 minutes from my room to bag check.

Bookings will probably open up later this summer. Disneyland packages are usually a little behind WDW.

Thanks for all the info! I must admit, I went for the official Disney hotels automatically because that's what we've done in WDW. And I was thinking that because we're only there for 2 night, perks like the extra magic hours might come in handy. But actually, for an extra hour difference, I think looking into offsite hotels might be a good idea!

thats the classic mistake that Walt Disney people do when planning their first visit to Disneyland.

Go to Google maps, and find the Harbor Boulevard side of Disneyland and you will see all the hotels and motels, all within 15 minutes walk. For example, I am paying $1123 total, including all tax and resort fees for 5 nights at Desert Inn and Suites in June. 1 night at Paradise Pier Hotel, the cheapest onsite Disney hotel is approx $300 without tax and resort fees. So if you add on tax and resort fees, for what I am paying for 5 nights at Desert Inn and Suites you would get 3 nights at Paradise Pier Hotel, which has a longer walk to the actual ticket scan park entrance and basic Disney theming and amenities.

There’s a big difference between the hotels on harbor and the motels on harbor. I’m spoiled and don’t do motels anymore. They’re noisy with uncomfortable beds. I recommend the home2suites on Manchester, about a 10 minute walk. I think it’s kind of expensive but the courtyard Marriott theme park entrance is close. Several people have enjoyed the new Westin. You’d enter the parks through DTD.

That being said, there’s nothing wrong with one of the resort hotels. Especially if you don’t plan to come back often. Paradise pier is starting renovations soon to add an entrance directly into DCA. I’m interested in staying there. I felt like the Disneyland hotel is meh. I’d love to stay at the grand. I’m looking into it for a 2 night stay to use a one day park ticket we have. I’d probably try to come during dapper days for the discount and the fun atmosphere at that time.

I have to disagree about staying off site unless you're really concerned about the cost. If this may be your only trip to Disneyland, I'd absolutely recommend an on site stay. There are multiple threads about the pros and cons so I won't go into it in depth, but there is a world of difference, in my opinion, in never leaving the resort. You have full service options on site and the Disney magic permeating your entire stay. Sure, you can use the lobby in GCH if you're not staying there, but what a treat to simply exit your room and have all the amenities right there. The DCA entrance is also wonderful. The theming is completely above and beyond anything across the street.

That said, I will add that it's less about the room theming and more about the stay as a whole.

The OP is from The UK, so something American people may not know about is the cost of transatlantic flights to get to California. It costs about $1000 per person just for flights. So while a 2 night splurge at an onsite Disneyland Hotel is something within reach for Americans, for most Europeans it might nor be.

I would love to stay at Grand California Hotel, but when a 2 night stay costs the same as my transatlantic flights, its just not a viable option.
