Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot. The open-world action game focused on Goku and friends will be receiving a fourth DLC update focused on Goku's Saiyan father Bardock. It's officially titled Bardock: Alone Against Fate and is the first of three DLC in a new Season 2 Pass, coming in 2023. In this DLC players will have to face off
against Lord Frieza. Here's a brief description, along with a look (above): "Bardock: Alone Against Fate is the new DLC that will allow players to impersonate the brave Saiyan that valiantly fought alone to protect the Saiyans’ home planet from the cruelty of Lord Frieza." In related news, the next-generation versions of Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot will be arriving on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X in 2023. Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot DLC 1 is here, and many players are wondering the best way to engage with the new content. Unfortunately, there isn't quite as much content as many originally envisioned, but on the bright side what content there is can be rather challenging. For those players that were expecting original story episodes rather than boss battle episodes, there is still some element of story in the DLC, but the main focus is definitely training to get strong enough to fight Beerus, who is truly a force to be reckoned with. For those that don't know, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot's DLC has had a bit of a stormy past. The season pass initially made available back in January when the game released would go months without any updates. When updates did finally come, they were mostly changes to the season pass that many perceived as negative, something which is especially problematic since many people had already paid for it. Now that the DLC is finally here and players can experience it in full, many feel that although it hasn't quite lived up to the high expectations or filled the shoes of the base game, it is still fun and enjoyable. RELATED: Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot - How To Beat Beerus Accessing Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot's DLCAccessing the DLC is simple enough. Assuming the player has the DLC downloaded onto their system, open the menu and find a new subsection underneath System titled Add-ons. Clicking this will bring up a menu showing the currently available DLC as well as two other blacked out ones. All the player needs to do is select DLC 1 and accept the prompt that shows up on the screen. This can be done at any time, as soon as the player gains access to Goku and the menu at the very beginning of the game. Doing this will initiate a cutscene in which Goku and Vegeta find themselves on Beerus' homeworld. The two seem to already know each other despite this scene being playable before the latter is even introduced to the story, and it is quickly revealed that Whis has summoned the Saiyans to this world in order to train them to entertain Beerus. Eventually, the two Saiyans agree and the entire DLC then opens up to the player, including Whis' training and even the Beerus Battle should one be crazy enough to attempt it yet. Training With Whis - Dragon Ball Z: KakarotWhis offers two types of training, Super Level-Up Training and Limit Break Training. At first only the former will be available to the player, which consists of a series of battles against Whis at various levels. The unique thing about these battles is the battle conditions tied to each one. These battle conditions modify the fight, such as increasing the player's melee damage or reducing the Ki cost of the player's super attacks, and should inform the player on the best strategy to use if they find themselves struggling to beat one of the training missions. These missions are set at levels 5, 25, 45, 70, 100, 150, and 200 and reward items that grant experience points. The other type of training Whis offers is Limit Break Training, which serves as an alternate method to unlock transformations. These battles are much more straightforward, as they do not employ the battle conditions, and are set at levels 20, 35, 60, 75, and 100. Clearing each one unlocks a new transformation (Kaioken, Super Saiyan 1, 2, 3, and God for Goku), and if the player already has the transformation then it a cutscene will show the character sheepishly informing Whis that they were already capable of reaching those heights. Clearing the level 100 Limit Break Training unlocks Super Saiyan God, however, and means the player is ready to face Beerus once they hit max level. RELATED: Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot Super DLC Has High Expectations Fighting BeerusDragon Ball Z: Kakarot's Beerus boss fight is incredibly challenging, and rightfully so given his position in the universe. The God of Destruction is available to battle at level 250, and it would be a fool's errand to attempt to face him before reaching that same level and unlocking the Super Saiyan God transformation. Still, if the player is able to beat him, they are rewarded with 20 Ultimate Sacred Waters, which grant 1.5 million experience points each. Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot DLC 1 Sub-StoriesFinally, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot's first DLC adds two new sub-stories to the game as well. The first of these sub-stories can be accessed by Vegeta by talking to the oracle fish. The oracle fish reveals that Beerus is in a bad mood, and through a series of unfortunate events, Vegeta is wrangled in to making a dish for the God of Destruction. The other sub-story is accessed as Goku once both Saiyans have unlocked Super Saiyan God, and starts off with a battle against Super Saiyan God Vegeta before finishing with a battle against Beerus with Vegeta as a Support character. Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot Sacred WaterDragon Ball Z: Kakarot DLC 1 introduces a new item called Sacred Water as well, which no doubt draws inspiration from the item with the same name which Korin uses to train Goku in the original Dragon Ball. This Sacred Water provides a flat amount of experience to the character that uses it, but is limited by level. For example, the most basic form, Sacred Water, grants the player 5000 experience but only can be used by characters under level 50, while the most powerful form, Ultimate Sacred Water, grants 1.5 million experience but can only be used by characters under level 250. That's about all there is to the new Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot DLC, and while the Beerus fight is incredibly enjoyable and challenging, there are many that wish the DLC came with more. Since Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is known for faithfully adapting the events of Dragon Ball Z, many though the DLC would do the same thing with the Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods movie. Alas, this is all fans will get for now, so until DLC 2 releases players should focus on leveling up, unlocking the new form, and defeating Beerus.
