Please check and make sure you have the correct wireless password from your main router, you may forget the wireless connection on your phone and try to connect back again to confirm if the wireless password is correct or not. If the router password is correct, please reset the WA860RE first: With the extender powered on, use a pin to press the RESET button for 1 second until the LED turns off then on. If not, try to power off the main router, then power off the extender and power it back on and try again. @Need Maybe you were using a different gateway IP address which got reverted to its default settings upon router firmware update? Try resetting your router and login using the default IP addresses 192.168.1.1 For most TP-Link products, a web-based interface is the only way to configure the product. Chances are that you cannot log in to its interface at the initial setup or after the configuration even though you can access the internet. Step 1 Refer to Quick Installation Guide to check the physical connection between your end-device and the TP-Link if you are using an Ethernet connection to visit the interface of TP-Link. If the LAN/Ethernet LED is not lit with Ethernet cable from the end-device plugged in the TP-Link, try different Ethernet ports and cables. Step 2 Log in to the Web-based Interface through the default domain name or default IP Address, which can be found on the installation guide. Make sure you type the domain name or IP address in the address bar instead of the search bar. If you can access TP-Link login address correctly using the domain name or IP address, but fail to log in using login username and password. The default username and password are both admin in lower case. However, if the default credential cannot work, reset the TP-Link device into default settings by pressing the reset button for 10s if you have forgotten the customized username and password. A simple restart by pushing the power off and on the button will not bring any harm. Note: If there is no internet at all, or if you don’t mind losing all your configuration, please reset the device. Usually, there is a reset button/hole on the TP-Link device, push it for a few seconds can factory reset it. Step 4 Simplify network topology by connecting only one end-device to the TP-Link device. DO NOT connect any other devices like modem or server because those may have an impact on the running of web-based management server of the TP-Link or your end-device. If it’s a wireless router, disconnect the modem from the router; if it’s a range extender, connect one end-device to it via wireless. If a problem still exists,
@Sunshine hi Sunhine, thanks for your reply. the router is well configured and started to use. the issue occurs when i tried to connect the created wi-fi network locally and not related to my ISP. it's working some time correctly then i got the error message i mentioned. normal restart didn't solve it only if i physically turn off and on it. hi, ive got a macair and when i try to connect to the tplink to configure it, it right away shows the incorrect usernema or passowrd troublemshooting when connecting through my phone, same thing. doesnt even ask for password, shows that message right away. tried resetting the device multiple times. how can i solve thiis? thanks in advance Re:username or password is incorrect (upon connection) 2021-02-22 07:21:11 @rolobi Please close the incorrect password page which automatically pops up. Clear the browsing history/ cache of Web browser, and manually put in " tplinkrepeater.net" or "192.168.0.254" to login to tp-link Web page. I am trying configure my range extender (was previously working) via web GUI to extend an existing wireless network's coverage I reset my TP-Link WiFi extender (using a pin) and then connect to the TP Link SSID. go to the url http://tplinkrepeater.net/ and straightaway get the page that says : Username or Password is incorrect. Please refer to the troubleshooting below: Is the "Caps Lock" enabled on your keyboard? The username and password must be lowercase, please ensure that the "Caps Lock" LED is disabled on your keyboard and try again. Forgot your username or password? Please reset this device to the factory default settings if you have forgotten your username or password. The default username and password are both set as "admin". Note: The settings will be restored to factory default after the resetting. How to restore this device to the factory default settings? Firstly locate the reset button on the rear panel of the unit, whilst this device is powered on press and hold the reset button for more than 5 seconds, this device will then reboot and restore itself to the factory default settings.
