Kill Your Friends - A Bloody Good Card Game is an adults only card game combines shedding, matching and knock-out style game play with a dark and twisted satire on modern life.

A quick and easy game to play again and again, Kill Your Friends is also an eye opening look into our narcissistic society with each card featuring a unique “death”. Whilst some of the “deaths” are a bit of fun and some are just plain silly, others provide a crude, shocking and provoking social commentary covering topics such as depression, police brutality, addiction, health trends and much more which will surely provide a point of conversation around the table.

What’s better is the actual game play. A mongrel cross between UNO, Survivor and Presidents and Arseholes, Kill Your Friends brings out and amplifies the natural competitiveness and aggressive nature of people playing card and board games.

Win by shedding all your cards or simply be the last one standing, Kill Your Friends is a quick and easy game to play again and again, and there is still a clear tactical element to win this “bloody good card game” that will be sure to build a fun rivalry amongst friends.

A cross between UNO and Survivor.

Kill Your Friends is the new card game that gives the mischievous Cards Against Humanity a run for its money. We chatted to the game’s creator, Leigh Ryan, about how he came up with the game and how it honestly reflects today’s society.

Kill Your Friends is described as the “most ruthless card game ever created”. How did the idea for the game come about?

I was inspired by the confronting and taboo subject matter of Cards Against Humanity and the fast competitive gameplay of UNO. I thought, ‘wouldn’t it be cool to have an adult-themed game that amplified the natural competitiveness and aggressive nature of people playing card and board games’.

The idea sat in the back of my mind for a while and it wasn’t until a close friend of mine and amazing illustrator, Adrian Dutt, did a series of horror-themed illustrations on Instagram leading up to Halloween called “Inktober” that I really got inspired. I started to send through death ideas and rough sketches to Adrian for him to breathe life (but mostly death) into the cards… and everything evolved from there.

Complete the sentence: “Kill Your Friends is for lovers of…”

Competitive fun who don’t mind a bit of black (and bloody) humour.

Tell us a bit about the gameplay. What’s the aim of the game?

It plays like an aggressive version of UNO crossed with Survivor. You win by being the last player remaining in the game or the first player with no cards. It is a quick and easy game to learn and play (games take between five and 20 minutes to play) but there is a clear tactical element to win that quickly builds a fun rivalry between friends.

There’s a few special cards, such as the “Reaper” and “Head Swap” cards, that can turn the game on its head just when you think you have things under control that make the game truly unpredictable.
