Did you read somewhere that they were switching engines again? They just moved to Unity 5 three months ago and I don't feel like they'd change again, at least not anytime soon. Drinky Changing engines will lose a huge load of progress and can break the game. The transition from Unity 4 to Unity 5 was easy because of their similarities (Unity 5 mainly bringing features). Thus, if they changed engines we would have more bugs, they would work much less on content and yeah.. You get the point ._. . It's the Ideas and Suggestions forum and i made the suggestion to move to the UE4 because most games already has the UE4, and i don't think that the developers will not be able to fix bugs from Unity5 -> UE4 transition, anyway game is in Early Access stage so let's wait and see what will be. Don't like the idea. The Forest does look amazing right now. It would be just a waste of time to transfer the game to another engine. It is more necessary, that the game itself gets more content. before spitting out ideas like this you should do a little more research on what it would require and what it would do to the game in question. More and more software developers are using Unity 4/5 not just in games but much more. It's easy to use, very effective even more so than unreal engine, offers great details even up to DX11 if the developers of the software use it, and is used a lot more than unreal infact. http://unity3d.com/public-relations Unreal engine is a good engine but not for a game such as this and for what little it could bring would not be worth the work it would require just to change over much less fix bugs that appear as time goes on. Nguyên văn bởi Sun_Rider: The small suggestion :) I read that the move from unity to UE4 not so difficult task, i don't know anything about that, but i'll be love to see the Forest in UE4 i think much more people would love that not just for the graphic it self but how smooth will be and how many players could join even with a lees power pc (like me) , the forest is running "%£"£$ on my pc but that is not their fault but mine , take for example bioshock infinite with my crappy pc on max resolution is running smooth some times i got a drop frame but soon after it get stable i rather play like that , not with 10 13 15 fps , so if i had the power to make this decision i would make it straight away!!! because this game have a lot of potential !!!! by making the game running smoother more players will join , this is my advice they should make this change ! ps Sry for my eng i hope everything is in order Imagine The Forest might will be like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_nLGoqqDc0w a small ptch of land with 4k texture with god knows how many polygons vs large scape terrain + subterrain with ai functions and entities sometimes unreal teaser images look nice but thats about it they are there for art and a glance at the engies quality to handle but does not show how it runs at a full game setting with many things running i like it the way it is and it runs great on my verson of GLaDOS's potato. i see no need for a change We do need to keep pushing but ya not ready for games that look like single scene UE 4 tech demos. But OT in this game however if you started from scatch right now considering the avg dev time. By time you game came out the tech would be there. This is my only ♥♥♥♥♥ point on consoles. No money is dumbed into making a PC game as good as it could be. We have not only the limits of PC but of consoles for most games with a budget. But I can watch folks like EvilFrank or whomever make speed sceens for days. This is art not gaming, but someday. |
